LUDACRIS HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT
Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, The Ludacris Foundation, and Hot 107.9 help over 700 Metro Atlanta children to get prepared for their return to school
Atlanta, GA – “This is our third year doing the back to school event. We want to express the importance of education and starting the school year off right” said Ludacris. So on Sunday, August 10th, 2008, Ludacris, Hot 107.9 and The Ludacris Foundation will hold a back to school event aimed at helping Atlanta youth get ready for the 2008 school year.
The event billed as “Hot Cuts” is open to the public and will cover metro Atlanta students. The event will start at 12pm and end at 6pm and be held at the Adamsville Recreation Center on 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta, GA. It is expected that between 600 – 800 kids will attend the event. Barbers will be on hand to provide haircuts for the boys and girls will receive gift certificates to get their hair done and get hair supplies. Hot 107.9 and Ludacris have teamed with AmeriGroup, Kroger, DTP, Georgia Power, and Prevent Blindness of Georgia to also provide these students with book bags, school supplies, food, and health & vision screenings. Entertainment and other surprises are planned.
“Our major focus is youth – it is our mission; it is our passion; it is what we do” stated Roberta Shields, President of The Ludacris Foundation. The Foundation helps people year around through our LudaCares Program. “We wanted to do something to help prepare the kids for their first day back to school – It’s a great feeling to start school with a new book bag and new supplies.”

"We aim to show young people that they are builders of their future" said Kim Hutchens, Executive Director of the Ludacris Foundation. The event is a part of the Foundation's LudaCares Initiative. The LudaCares Initiative is dedicated to supporting youth and families in need.
