THE LUDACRIS FOUNDATION HOSTS 30 ATLANTA KIDS FOR HEALTHY LIFESTYLES SEMINAR AND COOKING COMPETITION
Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, The Ludacris Foundation, and BET will provide 30 Metro Atlanta children with the opportunity to learn about how to eat and cook for a healthier lifestyle
Atlanta, GA – “We want to express the importance of eating healthy and taking care of your body” said Ludacris. So on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, Ludacris and The Ludacris Foundation will teach kids how to prepare quick, easy meals that are healthy.
The event is a private event organized by The Ludacris Foundation for 30 kids’ ages 8 to 12 years old. The kids will include both boys and girls. The event will start at 3:00pm and end at 5:00pm and be held at the Adamsville Recreation Center on 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW, Atlanta, GA 30311.
Youth will participate in cooking a healthy meal while learning more about healthy eating habits and lifestyle practices. They will also learn about the importance of physical activity in their daily lives. "We aim to show young people that they are builders of their future" said Kim Hutchens, Executive Director of the Ludacris Foundation.
Ludacris' personal Celebrity Chef, Will Box will teach kids how to plan a meal and cook safely. He will also teach the children about healthy foods that they can easily make at home. Celebrity Chef, Ashley Clay will assist with the food instruction and serve as one of the celebrity judges for the competition. The event will include entertainment, breakout sessions, and food. Local celebrity judges will be on hand to judge the food. Judging will be based on taste, visual presentation, verbal presentation of the recipe, ease of preparation, kitchen etiquette, uniqueness, and answers to questions regarding lessons learned. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.
“Our major focus is youth – it is our mission; it is our passion; it is what we do” stated Roberta Shields, President of The Ludacris Foundation. One of The Foundation’s signature programs is “Healthy Lifestyles 101”. The Healthy Lifestyle program involves youth focusing on their health and ultimately their own future. The program offers encouragement for improving eating habits and reducing obesity. “We wanted to do something to help kids understand the importance of eating healthy while enjoying the learning process.”
